This month we discuss the 'law of attraction' and whether it works and, if so, how.
I was particularly excited to see that so many people wrote about the need to employ soul and/or the heart in any attempt to manifest, and also a few have mentioned that we should de-focus on wanting and instead concentrate on giving – see also True Indigo's article: Wants have no place in the creation of abundance

Compassion is the missing element |

DZAR The missing piece that the law of attraction does not include is the frequency of compassion. Compassion is inherent in every molecule within the universe, it is the building block of the universe and it is the way that it expands. For what is compassion? Compassion is understanding, it is awareness, it is sameness. When you exist as the frequency of compassion there is no separation or judgement, there is no pain, there is no lack, as such things cannot exist in this space. Every other law, as you call them, is a part of this larger frequency. As a being, your whole purpose in this existence is for you to reconnect your to compassionate self, to that part of you that holds the essence of the universe so that you can be the frequency of compassion that the universe hears above everything else. If you wish to manifest a future in which you live a joyous, abundant life, the true way to get there is to be and connect with the compassionate self with every breath of your existence. Choose better feeling thoughts |

Sharada Rumi Currently there is scientific data regarding thoughts triggering production of specific chemicals and thoughts as well as feelings emitting varied vibrations. Seems logical to me that the law of attraction is a normal interaction between what we vibrationally beam outwards and what we attract back to us. Our thoughts trigger feelings but who we truly are is beyond them. We can be a master instead of a victim of our emotions, choose better feeling thoughts and feel better instantly. Connect to Source through heart |

Steve Ray
The underlying strategy for this process to unfold requires that we build our connection to Source through our heart. Otherwise we are simply trying to apply a formula and it’s very much a ‘mind over matter’ approach. Our will gets in the way unless we strengthen our heart. However, once we make that connection through our heart, our trust, belief and faith will improve automatically – and then we can surrender much better to what is simply happening in our lives.. not understanding the mystery but being at peace with it. Steve Ray, Reiki Tummo and Open Heart Instructor, is the co-ordinator of Reiki Tummo and Padmacahaya Open Heart activities in Victoria. He can be contacted on 0419 005 386 and at

Charles Ling There is nothing wrong with the desire to improve our lives. Even if you just want to meditate, you need to have a desire to meditate. Attachment, however, arises out of the erroneous belief that our long-term security lies in money, people and other transient objects. Long-term security lies within. To believe that it lies outside ourselves can lead us to a misguided search. Buddhism would say that enlightenment is more important than making lots of money. That’s true. Most people will agree to that intellectually. They will say that money does not give true security, but we need to be quite advanced on the meditative path to see that the path can lead to true security. If we can’t see that the meditative path can lead to true security, we tend not to devote all our energies to it. So there is a catch-22. Charles Ling has been teaching meditation for 14 years. He was authorised to teach by well-known Buddhist nun Ayya Khema who was an adept of the 8 meditative absorptions (jhanas). Charles' approach based mainly on the Theravada tradition also includes some teachings of the Mahayana tradition. Charles completed a PhD in philosophy at La Trobe University in 1999. He currently teaches in Melbourne's eastern surburbs and can be contacted at

Ask what life wants out of you, not what you can get from life |

Margie Ulbrick Living a life on purpose may mean blooming where you’re planted. It may mean that you have responsibilities and commitments which mean delaying certain things. However, you can still live a life inspired by purpose by bringing meaning to whatever you do. By accepting and relishing the position you are in as being an opportunity to love you will be moved by your soul and be able to follow your inner guidance and inspiration. When you ask what life wants out of you, not what you can get from life, you will receive great gifts. When you take the focus off getting and put your attention on giving you will be aligning yourself with the grand creative plan. That goes way beyond what we can imagine! Margie Ulbrick has qualifications in family therapy at post graduate level as well as in somatic psychotherapy. She has done training in various models of therapy and counselling including psychodynamic therapy, solutions therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy. She has had a life-long interest in personal and spiritual growth which informs and inspires her work in the counselling and coaching field. 0403 814 477, 03 9798 1402.
