Join hypnotherapists Dr Leonie Leivenzon and Dr Steve Carey at the Academy of Hypnotic Science for the only Victorian-based Government Accredited hypnotherapy training course. Learn skills to help clients stop smoking, lose weight, beat addictions, overcome fears, phobias or panic and a whole range of other treatments.
We’re in Elsternwick, just 100 metres from Glenhuntly station, and our next ten weekend course starts on the first weekend of February: classes continue on the first weekend each month throughout the year. We strictly limit class size to 22, and the course blends specialist lectures from experienced Clinical Hypnotherapists who each run their own practice, with directed practical sessions enabling you to hone skills you learn in the classroom.
You don’t need a tertiary education or even Year 12 at school, just what we have – a passion for helping people and a great desire to know more about hypnotherapy and how to use it! However, if you have previous training you may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and reduce your course costs.

We provide all manuals and materials (unlike some courses you’ll see advertised there are no hidden costs), and we offer excellent one-to-one academic support throughout the course. Our Certificate IV in Hypnotherapy course is the most comprehensive in Australia, and covers counselling, psychology, neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and hypnotic techniques such as Gestalt, Past Life, Guided Visualization, Timeline, Sleeptalk and Ego State (Parts) therapies. You’ll leave the Academy of Hypnotic Science fully equipped to see as many clients as you wish. And as a student or graduate of the Academy you are welcome to see clients from our excellent rooms while you build your practice. We have credit card payment facilities, and can even take bookings on your behalf.
We have a particular passion for enabling you to get your practice up and running, and give you detailed, practical sessions on how to find clients: how to market your practice, set up your website, get referrals from the medical profession – and ensure that you actually get to practice what you learn!
