Trust is non-negotiable

No matter how much we would like that statement to not be true, the fact is that once a trust is broken it is irreversible.

Whether a life partner has been unfaithful, a friend or family member has broken a bond of trust, or we are employed in something that doesn’t sit well with our beliefs and values, the fact remains the same. A trust has been broken.

When trust is one of our most treasured and coveted values it is very important to have a conversation at the beginning of any relationship to discuss what will and will not be tolerated or accepted. Only then can we live with personal integrity knowing that whatever happens, we have made our values and beliefs known and if a trust is betrayed then it will lead to a ‘clean’ conversation around possible outcomes and consequences of that betrayal.
